The Peeps!

Lisa starting creating the Punny Peeps as her daughter was getting ready to “leave the nest” and find a place of her own. After pouring all her love into her daughter for twenty six years, she needed something new to nurture.

So, after she left, she turned her daughter’s room into an artist’s loft and it’s been full speed ahead! Lisa had written a few children’s books (to be published in the future) but lacking drawing or painting skills, she decided to make her characters using glittery pom poms and wiggly eyes.

She loves making each Punny Peep as individual and unique as the students she’s taught over the years. At last count, she has made over 500 and counting! Lisa can’t even pick a favorite one, because she loves them ALL! As for making the backgrounds for each joke, that process also has to marinate and develop over a period of time.

Lisa finds items to use at tag sales, second hand and craft stores, and many time makes things by hand. She also finds unique pieces created by amazing miniature artists on Etsy. And Lisa’s hubby, her favorite prop guy, helps make many of the pieces she uses too. Most times, a scene will take hours to create. But, sometimes it all just clicks with the setting and Peeps meshing together easily.

Along with creating her Peeps and settings, Lisa also photographs and edits the pictures. Sometimes, she’ll take as many as 75-100 shots of one scene to get it the way she wants it. Other times, it may only take a mere 10-15 pics to capture the one. Every photo she takes includes at least two Peeps who are sharing the joke.

But…. there is one picture in one of the joke books that only has one Peep in it AND there is one picture out there that has NO Peeps in it at all!! So look carefully through the books and see if you can find them! Lisa would love to know when you have solved the mystery of the missing Peeps! LOL
