Who is Lisa?

Lisa Ayotte, an educator in CT, wanted to create engaging books for children that would motivate and encourage them to read, learn and have fun. She also believes sharing jokes are a great way for kids to boost confidence while connecting and bonding with their families and friends.

Lisa has written many grants that have funded  enrichment activities aimed at engaging children to find the joy in reading and writing.

When she’s not creating her adorable, little “Peeps” and their settings, Lisa loves hanging out with her family and her own “peeps”.  She also enjoys spending time spoiling her three fur babies, Mocha Chip, Lila Belle, and Marley Blue. Two things she can’t say no to are chocolate or spending the day at the beach!

These authors and many more have been my staples during my years of being a first grade teacher, then on to a reading teacher for students in grades k- 5, and of course, being a mom. One thing I know for sure, kids are more engaged and love to read when it’s a book that’s fun!

Tidbits About Me:

My students make me laugh all the time! If I wrote down the funny things they’ve said and done over my 25 years as a teacher… I could fill many books

I consider God to be not only my Father, but my best friend!

Italian food calls my name and chocolate has a piece of my heart.

I became a vegetarian in middle school but still love going to McDonald’s. Now when I go, I ask for a cheeseburger without the meat and I get some very funny looks from the cashiers.

The beach is one of my favorite places to be. Reading and riding the waves are my activities of choice when I’m there.

I almost always wear a pair of glasses on the top of my head, whether they’re my reading ones, driving ones or sunglasses!

My favorite radio station is KLOVE. The music is inspirational and provides me with much needed peace and joy.

I’m usually reading at least 2 books at a time. Some of my other favorite authors (in no particular order) are:  Anna Quidlen  Liane Moriarty, Elizabeth Strout, Elisabeth Berg, Jodi Picoult, Lisa Genova, Fredrik Backman, Gillian Flynn, Paula Hawkins and Kent Haruf.  Stories that have well developed characters really speak to me and draw me in.

My family and I have been packing shoeboxes to help give children around the world a gift to open at Christmas time for the past 20 years.  Samaritan’s Purse is a wonderful organization that distributes these boxes throughout the world.

I chew gum constantly! I remember having to wear it on my nose (after getting caught chewing during the day in middle school) and having to write “I will not chew gum” 100 times!  Thankfully they don’t do that anymore and….it definitely didn’t work on me anyway!  LOL
